After fours hours sleep the Team were called back to re-commence the search from the night before. The Team arranged help from colleagues in Avon and Somerset Search and Rescue Team and from SARDA (Search and Rescue Dog Association) who were sending two dog teams from Devon with more on stand-by from South Wales. The RNLI from Minehead located the lady in a cave below Hurlstone Point at around 9.40am. She was reunited with her family at Minehead Lifeboat Station.
In 2011 the Team were called away from our Christmas party at the Simonsbath House Hotel, and it happened again this year. The report was of a missing 69 year female walker, probably in the North Hill area near Minehead. The Team searched alongside HM Coastguard until 3.00am when the search was suspended.
The Team attended the River Mole in South Molton when the Devon and Cornwall Police announced a major incident. On arrival there were adequate resources on scene and no action was required by Exmoor Search and Rescue. The Team were then sent by the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service to Dulverton where the team remained on stand by whilst utilising the high river levels for training.
The Team joined HM Coastguard in a search for a 57 year old male missing since the morning when he had not arrived at work. His car was located in the evening by Police in a location that gave concern for the man's wellbeing. The search was suspended in the early hours.
A 68 year old male had been missing overnight. The Team were deployed to search an area of woodland near to where the man was seen at 19.00hrs the evening before. The Gentleman was found safe and well near his home during the morning.
In a search continued from the previous week, Exmoor SRT and Avon and Somerset Search and Rescue searched further areas for the missing Gentleman from Wellington until the evening. Nothing was found and Police continued searches and enquiries.
The Ambulance service requested the Team's assistance in moving a casualty with a broken ankle from a location inaccessible to the Air Ambulance. The Team provided equipment and manpower to carry the gentleman to the Ambulance.
In a search continued from the previous day, along with further resources from Avon and Somerset Police, Avon and Somerset Search and Rescue and the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, the Team searched extensively for the missing gentleman until the evening. The Police continued searches in the following days.
The Avon and Somerset Police requested help in the search for a 78 year male in the Wellington area. The Team searched wooded areas with the help of North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team. The search was suspended overnight.
The Team were put on stand by to search for a missing Male in the Woolacombe area. Police found the gentleman safe and well
The Team were called to resume the search from the previous day and were assisted by North Dartmoor SRT, Ashburton SRT, Tavistock SRT, Two Fire & Rescue crews from Lynton, Technical Rescue Fire & Rescue crew from Barnstaple, HM Coastguard, RNLI and the MCA Helicopter.
A person was found by the RNLI and the search suspended at 2000hrs whilst Police undertook further investigations.
The Team were called late afternoon to assist the Police in searching for an overdue lone male camper in the Lynton area. Searches were undertaken on farmland, woodland and along the coastal paths in the Valley of the Rocks area until late evening.
The Team were diverted from the Ilfracombe call out to return to Chulmleigh where the lady from Saturday had gone missing again and there was concern for her welfare. The Team along with NDSRT searched many areas near the village until at around 18.00hrs when the Lady was spotted by a NDSRT mobile unit. Team members spent sometime in conversation with her before Police took her to hospital.
The Team were exhibiting at the Porlock Country Fair when a call from the Devon and Cornwall Police necessitated a very fast pack-up to attend a call out in Ilfracombe. The missing Lady was located by HM Coastguard.
North Dartmoor SRT requested assistance from Exmoor SRT at Chulmleigh on the borders of the two Teams areas. The lady that was causing concern walked home whilst NDSRT were deploying search parties and Exmoor were en route.
The Team were alerted that the Police had received a 999 call from a Duke of Edinburgh party, one of whom was ill. The casualty was in a known position so local officers were assisted by the Coastguard helicopter and Exmoor SRT were not required.
Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Ashburton had been searching for a high risk missing person on the fringes of Woodbury Common since 20.30hrs. Exmoor were called to take over and continue the search but the missing person was located at 03.24hrs and before Exmoor SRT deployed.
The Team were alerted by the Avon and Somerset Police in regard to a missed 999 call from a leader of a Duke of Edinburgh expedition. Investigation found that no action was required.
The Team were asked to assist in the evacuation of an ill female from a remote location on the Quantock Hills. On the Team’s arrival SWAST personnel were with the casualty. Exmoor Search and Rescue used the Team's new 4 wheel drive Ambulance to carry the lady back to the roadside a mile or so distant.
An early call to assist in the search for a 66 year old male missing from a nursing home in Ilfracombe. Team member were arriving at the RV when the missing person was found safe and well in the High Street.
The Team were called during the late evening to assist police in searching for a high risk missing 60 year old male from Barnstaple. The Team mobilised and also requested the assistance of North Dartmoor SRT who supported us with their control vehicle. This was handy as Exmoor team's control vehicle was out of use due to serious repairs being required.
After around 5 hours of searching mainly agricultural and wooded areas, the Team stood down in the early hours of the morning. Dartmoor Tavistock arrived at daybreak on 28/05/16 to continue with the search but were shortly afterwards stood down when the missing person was discovered safe and well.
Thirteen members of Exmoor Search and Rescue Team along with colleagues from North Dartmoor SRT assisted Dartmoor Search and Rescue (Ashburton) in the search for a 29 year old lady in the Seaton area of East Devon. During a wide ranging search including Coastguard and the Police Helicopter the lady was found in woodland near the coast path, from where she was taken to Hospital.
The Team were alerted to an injured elderly female walker. Helicopters were unable to access the site due to the low cloud base but the situation was not as serious as originally thought and the lady was able to walk to a waiting Police car.
With the Dartmoor Search and Rescue Teams due to assist at the Ten Tors event, ESRT were called to relieve them in the search for 84 year old male whose car had been found stuck on a by-way near Meldon Reservoir on Dartmoor. ESRT searched until 4.00am when the search was suspended until first light.
The missing gentleman was located on Saturday morning and stretchered off the Moor.
ESRT were called at 12.30am to assist North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team with the search for a 87 year old lady. The lady was missing from a Residential Home in a rural part of West Devon north of Hatherleigh. At 3.30am she was located safe and well very close to where she was last seen.
The Team assisted North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team in the search for 47 year old male who had been missing since Sunday lunchtime, on farmland and woodland south of Stibbs Cross. The missing person was located on the farm at around 9.00pm safe and well.
A 75 year old male from the Kingsbridge area of South Devon was reported missing to the Devon and Cornwall Police on Friday. The search widened to North Devon where there was concern the gentleman had crashed his car during the early hours of Saturday. Exmoor Search and Rescue deployed to cover a wide are east of Lynton.
Information was received that reduced the concern for the missing person and the team were stood down.
